Google search results now become mobile-friendly

Google rolled out an update to its search engine, which boosts the ranking of mobile-friendly pages. The update affects search rankings only on mobile devices in all languages.

Mobile searchers will now find it easier to find high-quality pages that don’t require tapping or zooming. Of course, Google’s new search algorithm will not show only mobile sites – non-optimized pages with high-quality content will also make the cut.

The search giant has made a mobile-friendly test available to developers. Website owners with non-optimized content will be automatically re-processed once they adjust to the new rules.

It’s part of Google’s prolonged bid to get better at mobile, where it has lost its edge on search and ad serving. The algorithm changes will only apply to searches on smartphones, not tablets, and only to organic results, not ads. Some publishers are scrambling to meet the new demands. Portent, a market research company, tested 25,000 sites and found that 40 percent miss the mark. Thousands of small businesses (and even large ones) fall short as well.

Although Google’s search has surrendered some of its traffic referral power (to Facebook, in publishing, and Amazon, in commerce), it’s still a giant. “Mobilegeddon,” the term coined for Tuesday’s changes, speaks to the large footprint Google retains on the Web.

But its latest SEO tweak is not likely to reverberate as much as earlier ones. Those adjustments, such as Google’s “Panda” search redesign in 2011 to purge content deemed too thin, throttled entire companies. (See: Demand Media.) This time around, Google gave advance warning, notifying developers in February. They even provided a site to test if a URL is “mobile-friendly.” (This one is.) It’s a marked difference from prior alterations to the algorithm, said mobile industry insiders.

“They’re very tight-lipped about everything they do,” said Dan Meehan, CEO of PadSquad, a mobile software company. “In this case, they’ve definitely been proactive with publishers.”

Of course, with Google being Google, no one is certain of what tomorrow’s algorithm will bring. Some descriptions of the search change said Google will destroy sites without proper mobile optimization. But Google is pushing back on this, claiming the new requirements only adjust the search weights. “While the mobile-friendly change is important, we still use a variety of signals to rank search results,” a Google spokeswoman wrote in an email. “The intent of the search query is still a very strong signal — so if a page with high quality content is not mobile-friendly, it could still rank high if it has great content for the query.”

What is 4K?

Subscribe to my Youtube Channel

Every new year we are familiar with some of the technology gives us just such a surprise, some of them make questions to our mind, what is it? is it possible? 4K is the latest video technology that promises a better quality picture when you're watching movies or TV shows. But how does 4K work, and what does it mean for you?

The term "4K" refers to the resolution of an electronic display. A "display" could be the screen on your TV, your iPad or your laptop, and "resolution" means how many pixels there are in that display.

Pixels are the dots that make up on-screen images, and the more pixels there are, the sharper and more realistic images look. When we can see individual pixels, images look blocky and less lifelike, so we usually prefer displays with a higher resolution, and 4K is a very high resolution indeed. That's why it's sometimes known as "Ultra High Definition".

A High Definition TV with 1080p resolution is composed of two million pixels (1920 x 1080), while a 4K TV (aka Ultra High Definition) has over eight million pixels (3840 x 2160). Therefore, 4K has around four times more resolution than 1080p and produces a clearer picture.
In terms of tech products you can buy like TVs, 4K normally refers to a resolution that has 3,840 pixels along the horizontal line of the display, and 2,160 pixels vertically.
The name 4K comes from the fact that there are roughly four thousand pixels on the horizontal side, which gives 4K four times as high a resolution as 1080p, which is what we normally mean today when we describe a screen as "Full HD".

Tips: Do I Need 4K?
Not yet, unless you're an early adopter with the cash to spend and plenty of patience. In which case, the answer is probably still not yet. Think of 4K as something mainstream consumers could be watching in the next several years. Early adopters and enthusiasts may be interested sooner, if the costs come down enough and there's enough content available.

It's already pretty clear 4K won't end up like the 3D fad in there not being enough good content available to watch, even years after the technology's debut. 4K has a much better chance of becoming mainstream, because it doesn't need special glasses, and because some movie studios are already defaulting to shooting in it and promising a broad base of available content down the line. Bottom line: For most of us, however tantalizing that 4K logo may seem, it's not a realistic proposition in the immediate future. It's something to keep an eye on further down the line.

Top Ten Smartphone Of 2015 (Part One)

The smartphone juggernaut keeps on rolling in full pride. We are past the days when phones looked like walkie-talkies and weighed like a brick, and into a generation when feature phones don't even exist. And with the future bright for the industry, expect more new innovations in the pipeline. While there are a host of smartphone makers in the market with a number of devices aimed at breaking the barrier in technology, this surely isn't the last time we will see hefty innovations being made in the handsets in the sector.

Here we talk about top ten smartphone of 2015 (Part One)

1. iPhone 6
iPhone 6 running iOS 8 camera iMessage and MapsApple launched its iPhone 5S last September, and according to its own sales stats the handset was another winner. Apple managed to shift nine million iPhone 5S and 5C devices in the first three days of availability.
One year on the firm looks set to continue its success with its latest iPhone 6 smartphone. Unveiled in September the iPhone 6 is in many people’s eyes, including us here at V3, Apple’s most interesting smartphone to date.
Featuring a completely new curvaceous metal design, super-fast A8 processor Apple claims is 25 percent faster than the previous-generation A7 and sizeable 4.7in, 1334x750, 326ppi Retina HD display, coupled with Californian firm’s latest iOS 8 mobile operating system the iPhone 6 is the best smartphone currently available.

2. The iPhone 6 Plus
iPhone 6 Plus design in goldApple claimed for years that users didn’t want big-screen smartphones and there was no need for a handset to have a display any bigger than 4inches. However, given the popularity of big screens in other ecosystems, such as Android and Windows Phone, it’s become increasingly clear this is a false hypothesis.
Finally aware of this, Apple this year unveiled its first-ever phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus. Featuring a sizeable 1920x1080, 401ppi Retina HD display the iPhone 6 Plus is the first ever handset to bring all the inherent benefits of iOS 8 to the big screen.
As an added incentive Apple’s actually optimised its latest iOS 8 mobile operating system to work better on the iPhone 6 Plus’s display. For example, the iPhone 6 Plus's Messaging and Mail apps have a special two-tier horizontal user interface and separate keyboard with special keys for actions such as cut and paste.

3. Nokia Lumia 930
Nokia Lumia 930 with Windows Phone 8.1Microsoft made a big deal about Windows Phone 8.1, listing it as the first "enterprise-ready" version of its mobile OS, when it first arrived in the UK.
Having thoroughly tested Windows Phone 8.1 during our full review, we can understand why. Featuring advanced security and productivity features, such as a new Word Flow Keyboard, and mobile device-management support plus all the inherently great mobile applications seen on previous Windows Phone versions, Windows Phone 8.1 is truly fit for business.
As a result it's no surprise the Lumia 930 – which, as well as running on Windows Phone 8.1 also features top-end hardware, including the Finnish firm's hallowed PureView imaging technology – is one of the best phones currently available.

4. Sony Xperia Z3
Sony Xperia Z3  smartphone hands-on at IFA - appsSony continued its rapid-release strategy at the IFA trade show in Berlin at the start of September 2014 when it unveiled its latest Xperia Z3 flagship smartphone.
The firm announced the Z3 a mere six months after its predecessor, the Xperia Z2, and while it doesn't offer huge improvements Sony has made a few important changes.
For starters the Xperia Z3 is thinner than the Xperia Z2 and will run using a more current version of Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
Add to this its stellar 5.2in Full HD screen, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 20.7MP rear-facing camera and we can't help but be impressed by the Sony Xperia Z3.

5. One Plus One
Despite the OnePlus One not being a phone that actually takes my fancy, there is no denying that there are thousands of happy OPO owners around the world who are extremely happy with their CyanogenMod running smartphones and why not!
The OnePlus One is a 5.5-inch phone so would it is more fair to compare it to the iPhone 6 Plus. The phone boasts a 1080 JDI display, replaceable style swap covers, immersive battery life and powerful Snapdragon 801 with 3GB RAM.
If you’re not a fan of Cyanogen then OnePlus will let you install a 3rd party ROM and even root your phone without voiding your warranty, compare that to the walled garden of iOS.

International pricing of the OnePlus One ranges from $299 for the official international model to around $373 for a Chinese version of the phone running ColorOS.

Is multi-window coming to Android?

The multi-window feature available on the Samsung Galaxy Note phablets might soon be available to many more Android users. The detail of multi-window really doesn't give us a clue as to when such an app would be made available, or how it would work on a non-Galaxy Note Android phone. Back during the first month of 2014, a concept video showed how apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat, Twitter and YouTube could be used on Android within multi-window application. On smaller screens, multi-window support could quickly become a confusing mess, particularly when trying to drag and resize panels to get everything important in view. On the other hand, many of today's smartphones and tablets are easily big enough to support two apps on screen at the same time.

Google I/O 2015 will be held May 28th and May 29th.Where we could hear something more about this during the annual developer conference.
